How to Properly Pack and Ship Cookies

Cookies are wonderful, and they’re some of the simplest, most straightforward desserts out there. However, what isn’t straightforward, is packaging these so that they don’t break, go stale, or get messed up when shipping. Here, we’ll discuss how you can properly pack and ship cookies today!

Don’t Pack them tightly

The thing is with cookies, you want them to be protected but some people make the mistake of choosing treat boxes that are far too small, which causes them to break. A box that’s perfectly sized for this with some void fill is your best option for cookies.

Use Fill to Protect Them

Speaking of inner parts, you want to use a fill to protect this. Bubble wrap, newspaper, tissue paper, and other products will help keep this cushioned s that they don’t become crumbly if you don’t want that.

Remember dunnage is good for protecting this kind of packaging and cookies too!

Wrap them individually

One way as well to protect the cookies is to wrap them individually. If you’re submitting them as a care package, you can wrap each of these in saran wrap, foil, or wax paper, since it helps keep the cookies nice and fresh. You also can use packaging tins or Tupperware, or even Ziploc bags, placing them all within the box area itself, since this offers the proper protection when traveling from one location to the next, so that they arrive in the ideal conditions.

Get Fast Shipping

This should be obvious, but the faster the shipping, the fresher the cookies. In order to ensure that the recipient gets the best cookies that they can, you want a shipping means that’s fast, and efficient too. If you’re not sure whether or not the carrier will get the cookies there on top, without sacrificing the freshness, look at shipping options.

While larger carriers are usually the option gone for, regional carriers may be best for cookie delivering, since they’re faster, a bit more flexible, and they offer shipping options that are customized too. You should also ship these early before holidays or the weekend, so they’re not stuck in a location for a period of time.

The ideal transit time should be less than 30 hours for perishables, so keep that in mind.

Make Sure there’s no Restrictions

While most major carriers allow for you to ship baked goods around, that’s not always the case for others. There is a chance that if you submit these to a carrier, they may need to be declared before shipping. This is also the case for those who are shipping cookies internationally.

That’s because it requires the customs forms and the duties too, and if you’re shipping these abroad, you want to make sure that the cookies and ingredients are compliant with the local ordinances too.

Get Tracking!

This should be obvious, but you should make sure that you also have a tracking number for these. Tracking the cookies whenever they’re in transit or being notified when they’re delivered is incredibly useful. If you know the person who is getting the cookies, you’ll want to let them know the number, so that they can grab the cookies before they’re stolen, frozen, or impacted by inclement weather too.

For a lot of cookie companies, being smart with the packaging is imperative, which means that with the proper shipping and tracking, you can follow through with everything, and ensure that the cookies are protected now so that it doesn’t cause a problem down the line with the other customers that you have.
